Lovely to meet you both on Thursday at the launch of the new Breathing Space Bench. As promised here is the photo of the Wishaw High School Football Team from 1957-58 from my father in law John Wallace sitting next to Tommy. Back row: John Bulloch, Kirkpatrick, Cooper, Robertson, Thomson Hector. Front row: Tommy Gemmell, John Wallace, Stark, Todd, Rodger, Cleland, Fraser.

I was very glad to visit the statue and was dressed in green to mark the occasion. I never thought back in 1980, when the current supporters club started, that we would have a statue of Tommy on the main street. The community and those further afield deserve great credit for raising the necessary funds and the committee for pulling it all together. It is a pity big Billy didn’t live to see the statue unveiled as he would have been over the moon with it as we all are”. I offer my best wishes to all involved and best of luck for the future. Thanks for all the lovely comments on my Facebook picture at the statue. God Bless”.
